AUTHENTIC NAMIBIAN ADVENTURES – HIMBA CULTURE – 10 Days

DAY 1 & 2 – WINDHOEK – ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Arrival in Windhoek. You will be met by your guide. You have time to exchange your money and depart to the world renowned Etosha National Park. Accommodated on the Omulunga Palm Route. A good amount of our time in the park will be spend on game viewing. This is more enjoyable early morning and late afternoon, when the animals get into a playful mood.
Overnight at Campsite or similar, with all meals included.

DAY 3 & 4 – KAOKOLAND

Today we drive along the Omulunga Palm Route, visit an Oshiwambo Homestead and learn about the culture, before we proceed to Kaokoland, home to the Ovahimba people and Namibia’s last remaining nomadic groups. This area is often referred to as the last wilderness and is also home to the desert elephant population. Our home for the next two days. Transfers are alternatively made by donkey cart. After setting up our camp, we will be taken around the homestead and a given a short brief on the culture and traditions as well as the do’ & don’ts.
The following morning, we wake up and enjoy a fire cooked breakfast and join the local community in undertaking their daily activity, such as milking of cows, milk preparations, garment making, taking out cattle for herding, etc.

Around midday, we take a drive around other area, enjoy picnic lunch and a sundowner en route to our camp, where we arrive in time for dinner and spend the night around the fire, enjoying storytelling by the elders.
Overnight camping with all meals included.

DAY 5 – DAMARALAND
After the Kaokoland adventure, we head to Damaraland. It is here at Twyfelfontein World Heritage site, that we find one of the biggest collections of ancient rock art and engravings, done thousands of years ago by the San people. Another accolade for Damaraland is that it offers the most beautiful sunset, provided you are at a height to experience it. Enjoy a late afternoon nature drive, in search of Desert Elephants.
Overnight at a Camp or similar, with all meals included.

DAY 6 & 7 – SWAKOPMUND – WALVIS BAY
In the morning we first visit Twyfelfontein Rock Art, then proceed to Swakopmund, via Cape Cross Seal Colony. Enjoy lunch at Cape Cross Lodge. PM at leisure.
Enjoy an early morning boat cruise, light lunch in the dunes & Sandwich Harbour drive.
Overnight in hotel or similar, with all meals included.

DAY 8 – SOSSUSVLEI
After breakfast we depart to Sossusvlei, Namib Desert, the world’s oldest desert. In the afternoon, we undertake a sundowner drive.
Overnight at a Lodge or similar with all meals included.

DAY 9 – WINDHOEK
This morning we depart early and arrive at Dune 45, the most photographed dune, for sunrise. We enjoy our packed breakfast here and thereafter depart to Sossusvlei, where we climb various dunes, high and low, to get to our destination, the “Dead Vlei”. After visiting “Dead Vlei”. before midday, we proceed to Windhoek. Stopover for lunch en route.
Overnight at hotel or similar with dinner & breakfast included.

DAY 10 – END OF TOUR
Depending on your departure time, guests have an option to Enjoy a city tour on foot with one of our expert guides, which ends at the Diamond Works Cutting Workshop; or enjoy the day at leisure. Transfer to Hosea Kutako International Airport, in time for flight back home.
